Following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, has issued his first reaction after what has been described as a historic electoral performance by his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam .
In a post on social media platform X, Vijay thanked voters and reiterated his commitment to transparency, youth empowerment and inclusive development. He said, “Since the beginning of the party, we have faced ridicule and criticism. But we have overcome it and continued the election fight with courage, trusting only in the people.”
He added, “This election has created a stir in the entire Indian political arena. We called it a ‘miracle election’, and that has now been proven true.”
Vijay also alleged that sarcasm and propaganda had been spread against his party under the guise of neutrality, while stating that the people of Tamil Nadu had consistently supported them.
“We came into politics to repay the debt of the people, and those people have supported us with their unconditional love,” he said.
The results indicate that TVK has secured 108 seats in the 234-seat Assembly, falling short of the 118 required to form a government. Political analysts suggest the party may need the support of smaller parties to reach a majority, with possible allies including the Indian National Congress, PMK and Left parties.
Separately, BJP leader Khusbhu Sundar has reportedly suggested that Vijay and his party consider joining the NDA alliance to help form a government.
