Actor Tariquzzaman Tapan, known for his work in television and film, has died at the age of 60. He passed away on Friday evening at his residence in Aftabnagar, Dhaka.
The news was confirmed by Actors’ Equity Bangladesh. Tapan had been undergoing treatment for cancer for an extended period. His health had declined in recent days, leading to a brief stay in intensive care at a private hospital before he was taken home, where he died later that night.
Funeral prayers are set to take place at a mosque in Aftabnagar, after which he will be laid to rest in his ancestral home in Dhanbari, Tangail.
Tapan was a familiar presence on screen, earning recognition for his natural acting style, particularly in comedic roles. Over the years, he appeared in several films including ‘Alta Banu’, ‘Thikana’ and ‘Ja Chhilo Andhokare’, alongside a range of television dramas such as ‘Jora Shalik’, ‘Hatchhani’, ‘Olpe Golpe’ and ‘Mrittikar Jatra’.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
