The United States has called on its citizens to leave Iraq immediately as tensions escalate across the Middle East.
The US Embassy in Baghdad on Saturday issued a fresh alert after a missile struck its compound, telling Americans to “leave Iraq now.” The embassy warned that those who remain face serious risks from Iran-backed militant groups.
With Iran carrying out strikes on US targets throughout the region, Washington has advised its nationals to depart from more than a dozen countries.
In a separate move, the US State Department on Saturday announced it had directed non-emergency government staff and their family members to leave Oman, citing security concerns as the US-Israeli conflict with Iran intensifies, reports Reuters.
