United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs S Paul Kapur paid a courtesy call on Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs adviser to the prime minister, on Thursday.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital’s Tejgaon area.
During the meeting, both sides held fruitful discussions on the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the US, regional cooperation, the promotion of trade and investment, development partnership, and various issues of mutual interest.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir highlighted the long-standing friendly ties between the two nations and expressed his expectation to make the relationship more robust and multi-dimensional in the future.
He further emphasised the importance of increasing economic cooperation, expanding trade, and launching joint initiatives across various development sectors.
Assistant Secretary S Paul Kapur reaffirmed the United States’ interest in further advancing the Bangladesh-US relationship and noted the potential for expanding cooperation in various fields.
A high-level US delegation, including the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, was present during the meeting. The discussions took place in a cordial atmosphere, and both parties expressed optimism regarding the strengthening of mutual cooperation in the years ahead.
