The United States has donated 6 lakh GeneXpert tuberculosis testing kits and 11,000 courses of pediatric TB drugs to the Government of Bangladesh.
US Ambassador Brent T Christensen formally handed over the assistance at a ceremony held at a leading tuberculosis hospital on Thursday.
The event was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain Bokul and Directorate General of Health Services Director General Pravath Chandra Biswas.
According to the US Mission spokesperson Poornima Rai, the donation aims to address critical supply shortages in Bangladesh’s tuberculosis response system.
It also reflects the United States’ commitment to global health security under its new five-year framework to expand bilateral health partnerships.
