Indian social media personality Uorfi Javed has dismissed viral rumours claiming that she converted to Hinduism and changed her name to Rita Bhardwaj, as online speculation around her continues to spread.
According to a report by The Daily Siasat, the rumours gained momentum after a journalist shared a video making the claims while also commenting on Uorfi’s fashion choices and public image. The speculation quickly circulated across social media platforms.
Uorfi responded through her Instagram Stories and rejected the claims outright. She clarified that she has neither changed her name nor converted to any religion. She also stated that she does not follow any religion.
Earlier, social media influencer Faizan Ansari also claimed that Muslims had decided to expel Uorfi from Islam and rename her Geeta Bharadwaj. The claims sparked further debate online.
Reacting to those remarks in an interview with IANS, Uorfi called the reports baseless. She said, “I myself left the religion long ago. Who is making these things up now?”
She also addressed the alleged name change and said, “Who said this? There is no such report. They are making it up on their own. I don’t follow any religion. I am an atheist. So where will you get me out of? How would you get somebody out of a place they don’t exist in the first place!”
Her recent visit to the Kamakhya Temple has now added further fuel to online discussion around her personal beliefs.
