United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has launched its bancassurance services, allowing customers to access life and general insurance directly from any of its branches across the country, according to a press release.
The bank inaugurated the products on Wednesday at Padma Hall of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka in the presence of senior representatives from partnering insurers.
Eastland Insurance PLC chairman Mahbubur Rahman said the partnership among UCB, Jiban Bima Corporation and Eastland Insurance marks a milestone for the country’s insurance landscape. He said the collaboration will make insurance more convenient for customers.
Jiban Bima Corporation managing director and additional secretary Muhibuzzaman said UCB has made strong preparations to introduce bancassurance. He said rising incomes are increasing demand for insurance alongside banking services, adding that joint efforts between banks and insurers will make it easier for customers to access coverage. He expressed hope that the initiative will build public trust and strengthen financial protection for families.
UCB managing director and CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid said the new services will help customers save for the future, strengthen financial security and support long-term needs such as children’s education and travel. He said customers can now receive life and general insurance from any UCB branch under one platform.
The ceremony also included the symbolic handover of the First Premium Receipt to two customers, marking the start of sales operations.
