Law enforcement agencies have arrested two top-tier terrorists in possession of foreign-made pistols during separate operations in Savar and Ashulia.
The arrests were made during late-night drives on Wednesday and Thursday.
Imran Hossain, in-charge of the Bhabanipur Police Outpost in Savar, said a raid was conducted in Jorpul following a tip-off. The drive, aimed at recovering illegal drugs and arms as well as executing outstanding warrants, led to the arrest of Maruf Hossain, described by police as a top-listed terrorist, along with a foreign-made pistol.
In a separate operation, members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) arrested another alleged top terrorist, Himel Mir, from the Jamgora area of Ashulia late on Wednesday night.
According to law enforcers, Himel is believed to be the mastermind behind various criminal activities in the area.
Rubel Haolader, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, confirmed that Himel Mir is a named accused in multiple criminal cases.
Legal proceedings against the arrestees are under way, officials added.
