Two more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,019 new cases of measles and related symptoms were reported across Bangladesh.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, all the latest fatalities were suspected measles deaths.
The latest DGHS report, released on Tuesday, said no child died from confirmed measles infection during the period. However, two children died after developing symptoms associated with the disease.
Since 15 March, a total of 753 children have died with measles symptoms, while 96 children have died after being confirmed to have measles. The combined death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 849.
In the past 24 hours, 123 children were diagnosed with measles, while 896 were reported with measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 865 children were admitted to hospitals and 998 patients were discharged.
DGHS data shows that from 15 March to Tuesday, the total number of suspected measles cases reached 1,31,946, while confirmed measles cases stood at 16,531.
Of the total patients, 1,14,393 were admitted to hospitals, with 1,10,187 patients receiving discharge certificates and returning home.
