Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) in separate drives has detained two more individuals in connection with the death of mentally challenged man, who was allegedly beaten on suspicion of theft in Narail Sadar Upazila.
The arrested individuals are Prosenjit, 25, and Apurbo, 24, from Uttar Khalishakhali village in Narail.
According to case documents, victim Anwar Hossain, 32, who was mentally challenged, was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten on 25 June around 3am in front of Prosenjit’s house after being accused of theft.
He was later rescued by locals in critical condition and admitted to Narail Sadar Hospital. He was subsequently shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, where he died on the morning of 2 July.
Following the incident, the victim’s brother Golam Nabi Hossain filed a murder case with Narail Sadar Police Station.
Based on intelligence information, a team of RAB-6, Jashore camp, arrested Apurbo from the Mishri Deyara area of Jhikargacha on Friday evening.
Later the same night, another team from RAB’s Bhatiapara camp arrested prime accused Prosenjit from the Joypasha area of Boalmari upazila in Faridpur.
The arrested suspects were handed over to Narail Sadar Police Station for further legal action.
RAB said drives against wanted criminals involved in serious crimes, including murder cases, will continue.
