Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is holding bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on the second day of his visit to Dhaka.
The meeting began at 10:30am on Friday at Hotel InterContinental in the capital. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam were present at the talks.
No formal agenda was set for the meeting. However, issues including trade and investment, defence cooperation, security dialogue and coordination on international matters are expected to come up for discussion.
On the third day of his visit, Saturday, Hakan Fidan is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He is also expected to hold formal discussions with political leaders.
The Turkish foreign minister will also visit Rohingya camps during his stay in Bangladesh.
This marks the first visit by a Turkish foreign minister to Bangladesh since December 2020.
