Temporary storms and rain, accompanied by lightning, are likely to lash 19 districts across the country, including Dhaka.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) confirmed the forecast for internal river ports, valid from 9am to 6pm on Friday.
A notification signed by Assistant Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa said storms are anticipated by the evening over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Jashore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.
According to the forecast, temporary storms may blow from the west or north-west at a speed of 45-60 km per hour. There is also a possibility of rain and thunder during the period.
Under these circumstances, river ports in the 19 districts have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.
