US President Donald Trump has imposed a 25 percent tariff on nations trading with Iran, intensifying pressure on Tehran amid its violent protest crackdown.
“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive,” Trump said on Truth Social.
As Iran burns with anti-government protests, the international community believes that the new tariff announcement was made to increase pressure on Tehran.
It should be noted that Iran is already largely isolated internationally due to sweeping sanctions imposed by the US, the United Nations, and the European Union.
