A concrete mixer truck driver was killed after he lost control and crashed into a nearby showroom in Pragati Sarani area in capital on Wednesday.
The deceased was Saidur Rahman, 50, the driver of the truck.
Sub-Inspector Syed Golam Maula, duty officer of Badda Police Station, confirmed the incident and said that driver of the vehicle Saidur fell ill in a traffic jam on the road next to Baitul Aman Jame Mosque adjacent to Pragati Sarani Link Road. Then he lost control and the vehicle crashed into a nearby showroom at around 4:30am on Wednesday.
Later, locals rescued Saidur from inside the vehicle and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said the vehicle has been taken into custody following the incident.
