Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General Yunus Ahmed has welcomed the recent verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against the fallen dictator Sheikh Hasina and his chief accomplice, calling it a reflection of justice and a fulfillment of the aspirations of the oppressed.
Describing the ruling as a historic milestone in the nation’s political landscape, Yunus Ahmad said it sets a precedent against the abuse of state power to suppress citizens, said a press release.
He noted that the fallen regime had orchestrated a wide network of crimes, and the tribunal’s decision addresses the leadership of that network. “Ultimately, all perpetrators must be held accountable,” he added.
Yunus Ahmed expressed gratitude to all involved in the judicial process and extended respect and condolences to the families of martyrs and those injured during the period of oppression.
He urged the government to ensure that all legal procedures are promptly completed and that the verdict is implemented without delay.
The leader described the day as a moment of joy for his organisation, thanked the Almighty, and called on citizens to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
