Import and export activities between Bangladesh and India through Bhomra land port in Satkhira resumed on Monday following a seven-day closure for Eid-ul-Adha.
The resumption of trade has brought back the usual vibrance and commercial energy among port users.
From 25 to 31 May, all operations at the port had been suspended for Eid, though passport holders continued to travel during that period.
Abu Musa, general secretary of the Bhomra Land Port C&F Association, said the decision to suspend import-export activities for seven days was reached through a consensus between all relevant local organisations and the Ghojadanga C&F Agent Cargo Welfare Association in India.
He confirmed that trade operations returned to normal on Monday morning.
Tufan Mondal, officer-in-charge of the Bhomra land port immigration police said only passport holders were able to cross the border as usual during the holiday.
Mamun Kabir Torofder, deputy director of the port authority, also confirmed the development.
Customs Commissioner Mushfiqur Rahman noted that the port has regained its characteristic bustle.
He emphasised that the Bhomra land port plays a vital role in the bilateral trade and commerce between Bangladesh and India.
