BARVIDA seeks to import reconditioned vehicles via Payra Port

The Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (BARVIDA) is exploring Payra Port as a new gateway for importing reconditioned vehicles.

A BARVIDA delegation led by its President Abdul Haque visited the port on Wednesday at the invitation of the chairman of the Payra Port Authority.

Following the inspection, the delegation held a meeting with the port authority to discuss the port’s suitability for vehicle imports, proposed conditions, infrastructure, security and its capacity to transport imported vehicles to Dhaka and other districts.

Payra Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Rear Admiral Syed Saiful Islam said he wanted to see BARVIDA become a key stakeholder in the port’s development.

Commodore Mohammad Jamal Uddin Chowdhury, member for harbour and marine at the port authority, presided over the meeting.

Barishal Customs Commissioner Arun Kumar Biswas assured the importers of necessary customs assistance within the framework of existing rules and regulations.

BARVIDA Vice-President-1 Saiful Islam Samrat, Treasurer Saiful Alam, Cultural Secretary Golam Rabbani Shanto and Executive Members Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan and Mohammad Zahir Iqbal attended the inspection and meeting.

Senior officials from Payra Port and Barishal Customs House, including Payra Port Authority Director for Traffic Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, were also present.
