A tourist from Dhaka, Md Shohan (27), who went missing after entering the Matamuhuri River in Lama, Bandarban to bathe, has not been found even after six hours of search.
On Thursday afternoon, he entered the river at the Minjhiri Sada Pahad Point in Fasiakhali Union of the upazila with his friend Mohammad Shakil.
At that time, due to the strong current in the river, his friend managed to swim back to shore, but Sohan was swept away by the current.
OC Tofazzal Hossain of Lama Police Station stated that the two friends, who had come on a visit from Dhaka, were staying at the local White Peak Station Resort. At noon, they went to bathe, and one of them, Shohan, went missing. Shohan’s family has been informed.
Fire Service personnel are currently conducting a search in the river to rescue the missing youth.
