Miscreants have snatched Tk24 lakh from a Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) agent after creating panic and chaos through gunfire and exploding cocktails, in addition to beating up the agent and his assistant up, in Gazipur.
Bashon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun-ur-Rashid stated that the incident occurred around 4:15pm on Sunday near the Kacha Bazar at Chandana Chourasta.
The OC said that the Agent Banking Manager, Habibur Rahman, and his assistant, Sohrab, were on a motorcycle in the Bhogra Bypass area, headed to the DBBL sub-branch in Chandana Chourasta with the money.
At around 4:15pm, as they reached near Kazim Uddin Chowdhury High School on the west side of Chandana Chourasta Kacha Bazar with the money, two to three motorcycles appeared, blocking their way.
At one point, several cocktail explosions were set off and guns fired in the air to create chaos and panic in the area, before they proceeded to beat up the two DBBL employees, snatching the bag with the money, and fleeing quickly on their motorcycles.
Police inspected the scene upon arrival and are currently conducting operations to apprehend those responsible.
