Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet enjoyed more than a front-row seat at the FIFA World Cup final, as organisers entrusted him with the special honour of delivering the official match ball before kick-off.

Chalamet was among a host of A-list celebrities attending the final between Argentina and Spain in New York. The star-studded crowd also included Tom Cruise, Post Malone and US President Donald Trump.

A passionate sports fan, the New York-born actor took part in one of the match’s most memorable pre-game moments by carrying the ball onto the pitch.

Before the ball presentation, Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz brought out the FIFA World Cup trophy. The trophy will later be presented to the tournament winners by President Trump.

Football has long been one of Chalamet’s sporting passions. The actor has previously revealed that he supports English club Liverpool, one of the most successful teams in English football with 20 league titles.

Earlier in the tournament, Chalamet was also seen supporting France during their semi-final against Spain, underlining his enthusiasm for the sport beyond his appearance at the final.
