One person was killed and another injured in a three-vehicle collision involving an ambulance, a van and a fish-laden CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chandpur.
The accident took place early on Sunday at the Wireless intersection in the town at dawn.
Witnesses said a speeding ambulance collided with a van and a CNG carrying fish. Kamal Hossain, 42, a passenger of the CNG, died at the scene. He was the son of Abu Hanif of Hossenpur village in Kachua upazila.
CNG driver Bashir, 40, sustained serious injuries. He is the son of Almas from Rasulpur village under Nischintapur union in the same upazila.
Residential Medical Officer of Chandpur Government General Hospital Hasibul Hasan Chowdhury said Kamal Hossain had died before being brought to the hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Chandpur Sadar Police Station Foyez Ahmed said a preliminary inquest report was prepared and the body was kept at the hospital.
As the family raised no complaint, the body was later handed over to relatives without an autopsy.
