Police rescued three teens from Khoksa two days after they went missing from Kumarkhali in Kushtia while reportedly searching for an “imaginary world”.
The boys were rescued on Friday night and handed over to their families.
The teens are Samiul Alim Shawon, 13, Shamim,12 and Talha,12, students of Durgapur Secondary School.
They are residents of Bujruk Durgapur village under Kumarkhali upazila.
According to family, the three left home at around 2:30pm last Thursday without informing anyone. As they did not return, families searched different areas and lodged a General Diary (GD) with Kumarkhali Police Station.
The incident drew attention on social media. A group of youths from Satpakhia in Khoksa upazila spotted the boys while returning by train from a cricket match in Kalukhali, Rajbari on Friday night.
The youths recognised them from missing-person photos on Facebook, contacted their families, and helped ensure they got off at Khoksa railway station.
Police later arrived and took custody of the teenagers.
Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Jamal Uddin said the boys left home voluntarily, driven by a hobby and “fictional attraction” to explore the unknown, and that social media and public cooperation helped the rescue.
The boys were returned after legal formalities in good health.
