Police detained three Indian nationals for allegedly entering Bangladesh illegally through Panchari border in Khagrachari from the Pujgang area of the upazila.
Panchari police station officer-in-charge Ferdous Wahid said a case was filed at the station and the three were sent to court on Thursday morning following legal procedures.
“The trio was detained on Wednesday afternoon,” Ferdous said.
The detainees were identified as Horen, James Kumar Riang, 33, Torasen Riang, 30, and Lal Thakma Riang, 32.
Police said the men were stopped after they were seen roaming suspiciously in the area.
During questioning, they admitted to being residents of Gruinang Para in Nutan Bazar police station under Gomati district of India’s Tripura state.
