Former Chuadanga municipality mayor Riazul Islam Jowarder and former district Chhatra League president Sharif Hossain Dudu have been shown arrested and sent to the district jail.
The order was issued by Senior Judicial Magistrate First Court Judge Touhidul Islam at around 10am on Thursday.
According to case records, Riazul Islam Jowarder Toton, the district joint general secretary of the banned Awami League and former municipality mayor, was shown arrested in four cases filed over attacks during the July–August movement.
Former district Chhatra League president Sharif Hossain Dudu was shown arrested in three cases.
The two were produced before the Senior Judicial Magistrate First Court in connection with another case, after which the judge instructed that they be shown arrested in the remaining cases as well.
They were later taken to Chuadanga district jail under police guard.
Defence lawyer Selim Uddin Khan said Riazul Islam had been shown arrested in four cases and Sharif Hossain in three, adding that their bail petitions will be submitted on Sunday.
He also said they had recently been arrested by DMP police in another case in Dhaka.
