Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali has stated that the police are working to identify and bring under the law those who are attempting to create panic among the public by deliberately carrying out cocktail explosions and setting fire to vehicles.
The DMP commissioner made the remark on Thursday at the DMP’s monthly crime review meeting held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh Police Lines.
He further added that those responsible for creating such chaos will be banned from Dhaka.
He further said that in the upcoming National Parliamentary Election, police must work in the interest of the people while remaining completely impartial. No favoritism or bias towards any political party, ideology, or individual can be shown, he added.
The DMP Commissioner said that to maintain law and order and ensure the security of people’s lives and property, police will not hesitate to use maximum force against miscreants as per the law, adding that patrol activities will be further strengthened to prevent crime in the police station areas.
At the meeting, Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md Sarwar said that police members must use social media following government policies.
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam emphasised that the upcoming general election requires performing duties impartially while demonstrating the highest professional ethical standards. Attention must be paid to ensure that no one can disrupt the law-and-order situation surrounding the verdicts in the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) cases.
At the meeting, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Md Faruq Hossain presented information on the overall crime situation for October 2025, including data on various cases such as robbery, banditry, theft, burglary, murder, unnatural death, road accidents, violence against women and children, rape, and the recovery of narcotics and arms.
At this time, the DMP Commissioner gave various instructions to the police members present.
At the monthly crime meeting, the DMP Commissioner DMP officers of various ranks in different categories as were recognised for their excellent work in controlling law and order in the Dhaka metropolis, curbing crime, and ensuring public safety during October with awards.
Present at the crime review meeting were Additional Police Commissioner (CCTC) Md Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam, BPM, PPM, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md Shawkat Ali, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md Zillur Rahman, Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners, Officers-in-Charge of all DMP police stations, and police officers of various ranks.
