Thanking all party workers sincerely for standing by him, Mirza Fakhrul said in the Facebook post, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, BNP has nominated me for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency. I express my gratitude and thanks to Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and all the party’s leaders.”

Recounting some political events of his life, the BNP Secretary General said, “When I decided in 1987 to return to politics, my two daughters were very young. They studied in Dhaka. My wife was also young then. She was initially stunned. She could understand what a terribly uncertain life I was about to step into.”

He said, “Holding my daughters’ hands, she herself took them to school, went to the doctor. I remember, my elder daughter had to have an operation. I was in a car all night on the way to Dhaka so I could be by my daughter’s side in the morning.”

“Those who have been in politics all their lives during such times, each of them has some stories that many people do not know,” said Mirza Fakhrul.

“I will tell such stories another day, if Allah wills. Thousands of our leaders and workers have such stories. This election might be my last election.”

At the end of the post, Mirza Fakhrul sought prayers from party leaders, workers, and the people. He said, “Please pray for me, pray for every leader and worker of our party. Together, we will stand by you and work.”

Calling on everyone to stand by his side, he assured: “BNP has the capability to move the country forward with dignity.”
