Prime Video’s long-awaited spinoff, ‘The Boys: Mexico’, is moving forward after three years in development. Set after the events of ‘The Boys’ season 5, the series is written by Blue Beetle’s Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and executive produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, with showrunner Eric Kripke also on board.
Kripke recently confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that a draft of the pilot has been delivered to Amazon, which responded positively. Notes are being incorporated for a new draft, with the team hopeful about the project’s future.
The spinoff will explore the aftermath of the final season of The Boys, with potential appearances from original series characters, and will expand the franchise beyond the US.
The Boys: Mexico is not the only expansion in the works. The prequel series ‘Vought Rising’, set in the 1950s, has wrapped filming and is expected to release in 2027.
The future of ‘Gen V’ season 3 remains uncertain, meaning the Mexico spinoff could become the franchise’s main continuation post-The Boys.
While still years from release, the project is seen as a promising addition to the universe, with Kripke noting that it is “making all the right noises.”
