Police recovered the throat-slit body of a teenage girl from a septic tank in Gaibandha on Sunday.
The incident took place in Chowdhuripara area of Talukkanupur union under Gobindaganj upazila around noon.
The deceased was identified as Nurma Khatun, 17, daughter of farmer Nazrul Islam of the area and a Class X student of local Taltala High School.
Locals said the girl had been missing since Sunday morning.
Family members searched for her and later found her body inside a septic tank.
Confirming the matter, Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque said police were sent to the scene after receiving information.
Further legal proceedings are under way, he added.
