A teenage girl died after being frightened by the sound of a lightning strike in Subornachar upazila of Noakhali on Tuesday morning, locals said.
The deceased, Tanjina Akter, 17, was a madrasa student and the daughter of Sheikh Mujam Sentu of Nayapara village in Ward No. 8 of Char Aman Ullah union.
According to locals, a lightning strike occurred near her house with a loud bang while she was inside, causing panic. She collapsed during the incident and died on the spot.
Ward member Md Kamal Uddin confirmed the incident, while Subornachar Police Station’s Officer-in-charge Lutfur Rahman said police visited the scene and further details would be confirmed after an investigation.
