Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry and Science and Technology Ministry Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam has decided not to take his allocated fuel entitlement for three months, exceeding the government’s call to reduce energy use by 30 per cent.
The decision will apply for April, May and June, according to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
The move follows the prime minister’s directive to cut fuel consumption by 30 per cent as part of ongoing energy conservation efforts.
A Cabinet Division order issued on 9 April said the minister expressed his intention not to avail of the fuel facilities allocated under his official entitlement during the period.
The instruction was circulated following a proposal from the Posts and Telecommunications Division dated 6 April.
The Cabinet Division requested relevant authorities to take necessary steps in line with the decision.
The move comes as the government pushes austerity measures to manage energy demand and reduce expenditure.
