Md Ariful Ahsan has defeated Md Abrarul Alam in the biennial election of the Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association (BAFFA), marking a shift in leadership for the 2026–2028 term.
Results announced on Saturday show CML Consolidation and Logistics Services Managing Director Md Ariful Ahsan secured 278 votes, while EUR Logistics Services Managing Director Md Abrarul Alam received 248.
The voting pattern remained consistent across both centres. In Dhaka, Ahsan obtained 215 votes against Alam’s 198. In Chattogram, he secured 63 votes, compared with 50 for Alam.

In the new committee, Senior Vice President Syed Md Bakhtiar has been elected.
The outcome places Ahsan at the helm of the freight forwarding body at a time when the sector faces challenges related to trade facilitation, cost efficiency and logistics modernisation.
Industry participants expect the new leadership to focus on improving operational efficiency and supporting policy alignment to facilitate smoother trade flows.
