Bangladesh Bank has consolidated its rules on outward remittances into a single circular, incorporating regulatory changes made over the past year across travel, education, medical treatment, services, digital payments and other current-account transactions.

The circular, issued on Wednesday, replaces the consolidated instructions issued on 30 September 2025, and brings subsequent amendments and directives under one framework.

The consolidation does not itself introduce a broad new outward-remittance facility. Rather, it updates the regulatory rulebook by incorporating instructions issued by the central bank over the past year.

The framework covers outward payments for foreign travel, medical treatment, education, visa and immigration fees, overseas employment, professional training and seminars, as well as official and business travel, Hajj and Umrah.

It also brings together rules governing remittances for profits and dividends, consultancy and training services, overseas agents and branches, aircraft and ship lease rentals, software and IT services, e-commerce and small and medium enterprises.

Digital payments, including international cards and the Bank-Intermediated Cross-Border Digital Payment Framework, are also covered by the consolidated instructions.

Previous instructions incorporated into the new framework will stand repealed, except for reporting requirements, according to the circular.

The consolidated instructions will remain valid for one year. Any new directives issued during the period will have to be read alongside the circular, while the original instructions will prevail in case of any ambiguity or inconsistency.
