BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has sought prayers from the countrymen for the recovery of his ailing mother, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The announcement came early Sunday morning through a statement issued by the BNP media cell.
Tarique Rahman, along with his wife Zubaida Rahman, visited Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday night. He also attended a meeting of the medical board overseeing her treatment.
Following the board meeting, Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Dr Zahid Hossain, told reporters that the three times former prime minister is going through a critical period.
The BNP media cell later confirmed at 6am on Sunday, Tarique Rahman had solicited prayers from the people of the country for his mother.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on 23 November. Since then, a medical board comprising local and international specialists under the supervision of Professor Shahabuddin Talukder has been providing her treatment.
