BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman left his Gulshan residence on Saturday morning to pay respects at the grave of Shahid Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho.
Accompanied by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders, Tarique is scheduled to visit the grave at 11am.
His planned visit to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), popularly known as Pangu Hospital, was canceled as there are currently no patients from the July uprising. After the grave visit, Tarique is set to go to the Election Commission for NID registration.
Meanwhile, activists of the Inqilab Moncho temporarily left Shahbagh on Saturday morning to allow BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to pay respects at the grave of Sharif Osman Hadi.
The protesters relocated their sit-in to the front of Aziz Super Market, planning to return to Shahbagh after noon.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inqilab Moncho, said demonstrators had staged a night-long sit-in at Shahbagh on Friday, demanding justice for Osman Hadi, who was killed a week ago.
They allege that the perpetrators have yet to be apprehended and brought to trial.
Despite the cold winter night, the activists remained resolute, warning that if the government fails to ensure justice, their indefinite sit-in at Shahbagh would continue.
