The much-loved 1998 romantic drama Hothat Brishti is returning to the big screen in a new avatar, with its remake Abar Hothat Brishti scheduled for release on 2 October.
Kamruzzaman has directed the remake, which features Arian Sarowar and Radifa Narmin in the lead. The film was originally targeted for a Puja release but could not meet that schedule and was postponed.
Production wrapped about three months ago, and the film has since secured clearance from the Certification Board.
The original Hothat Brishti was helmed by Basu Chatterjee and starred Ferdous and Priyanka Trivedi. While the remake draws from the atmosphere of the earlier film, it presents the story with a contemporary audience in mind.
Arian steps into the role made famous by Ferdous, while Radifa plays the character portrayed by Priyanka Trivedi in the original.
Arian said he watched Hothat Brishti several times ahead of filming and studied Ferdous’s performance, but deliberately avoided copying his portrayal.
The supporting cast includes Azad Abul Kalam, Farzana Chhobi, Cristano Tanmoy, Kayes Arju, Mou Khan and Jhuna Chowdhury.
The film will hold its premiere at a cineplex in the airport area at 4pm on 30 September. The director and members of the cast and crew are expected to attend the event.
