The nomination paper of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman for the Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency has been officially declared valid by the district administration and returning officer.
The scrutiny and verification process concluded on Saturday at 10:25am, confirming Tarique Rahman’s eligibility to contest the upcoming parliamentary election.
In the same constituency, the nomination of Abidur Rahman Sohel, representing Jamaat-e-Islami, was also approved.
However, the nomination paper of Dilruba Noorie, candidate of the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Basad), was rejected.
Officials said her nomination was cancelled due to failure to submit an income tax return, as required by election regulations.
