After ending 17 long years of exile, the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman went to the hospital to see his ailing mother and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. He entered the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at 5:54pm on Thursday.
His wife, Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Zaima Rahman, had already arrived at the hospital before him.
Crossing a sea of people
Tarique Rahman arrived in Dhaka from London with his family on a regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on Thursday afternoon. From the airport, he went directly to the massive reception venue organised on the 300-Feet Kuril-Purbachal Expressway.
After delivering a brief speech there, around 5:50pm, the red and green bus carrying him stopped at the gate of Evercare Hospital.
His vehicle was slightly delayed in reaching the hospital due to the overwhelming crowd of party activists and the love of thousands of people waiting on both sides of the road. At this time, Tarique Rahman waved his hand in response to the greetings of the general public and party activists present.
Presence of Zubaida, Zaima Rahman
Earlier, Tarique Rahman’s wife, Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Zaima Rahman, went directly to the Gulshan residence from the airport. They entered the Gulshan house at 12:57pm. At that time, Zaima Rahman waved to the crowd present.
Later, around 4:38pm, they left the Gulshan residence in a white microbus for the hospital. They arrived at Evercare Hospital at 5:10pm and went inside to the cabin where Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment.
A large number of party activists have gathered outside the hospital to catch a glimpse of the BNP chief and his family members. Security measures have been strengthened in the hospital area.
