Bangladesh’s Asia Cup performances have brought changes in the ICC T20I rankings, with Tanzid Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Jaker Ali climbing the charts, while Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed have slipped. The weekly update of the men’s rankings was published by the ICC on Wednesday, 17 September 2025.
The left-handed opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s win over Afghanistan, scoring a brilliant 52 off 31 balls, hitting three sixes and four fours. Alongside a 63-run opening partnership with Saif Hassan, he laid the foundation for the victory. For this innings, Tanzid received the award for his fifty and moved up four places to 35th in the ICC T20I batsmen’s rankings. After a slow start to the Asia Cup scoring 14 off 18 balls against Hong Kong and failing to score against Sri Lanka he found excellent form against Afghanistan, marking his seventh T20I half-century and now standing as the highest-ranked Bangladeshi batsman.
Jaker Ali also made progress in the rankings. He remained unbeaten in one of the three Asia Cup matches, scoring 0, 41 and 12 in the three innings. His performance lifted him three places to 57th, sharing the spot with Sahibzada Farhan and Richie Berrington.
Among bowlers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib has advanced five places to 42nd after taking three wickets in the first two matches of the tournament two for 21 runs against Hong Kong and one for 23 against Sri Lanka. Mustafizur Rahman, despite taking three wickets against Afghanistan, dropped four places to 15th, remaining the highest-ranked Bangladeshi bowler. Taskin Ahmed fell five places to 30th after not performing at his best, while Shariful Islam also slipped due to a below-par showing against Sri Lanka.
Other Bangladesh players in the rankings include captain Litton Kumar Das, who dropped one place to 42nd, Tawhid Hridoy at 48th, and Parvez Hossain Emon, who fell eight places to 75th. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain remains 24th, while T20I all-rounder Mahedi Hasan is the only Bangladeshi in the top 50, sharing 39th place with India’s Washington Sundar.
