Audiences have seen plenty of stories about love and heartbreak. But this time, the narrative promises to break the mold. In Bangladeshi television drama, female-centric gangster stories are rare. This one steps firmly into that space.
The upcoming suspense-driven drama ‘Golapi’ centers on a powerful female lead. As the title suggests, the protagonist’s name is ‘Golapi’. The fierce and layered character is portrayed by Tanjin Tisha, who will be seen in two distinct roles within the same project.
Tawsif Mahbub appears in the drama as either the hero or the antagonist. Mezbah Uddin Sumon writes the screenplay, and hit-maker Rubel Hasan directs the project. Raju Raj handles cinematography. Produced under the banner of CMV, the drama has recently wrapped shooting and is now in post-production. It is slated for release during the upcoming Eid festival.
Director Rubel Hasan is optimistic about the project, noting that the character of ‘Golapi’ is extremely challenging and demanding for any actress. According to him, Tanjin Tisha has delivered a performance that fully lives up to that challenge.
He adds, “The drama portrays the landscape of slum life, the politics of pickpockets and gangsters, and includes surprising police twists. It’s an action thriller with a romantic layer. Altogether, it is shaping up to be one of the standout stories of the coming Eid.”
