Following Bangladesh’s T20 series whitewash against the West Indies at home, the latest ICC weekly rankings released on Wednesday have reflected the team’s mixed fortunes, with opener Tanzid Tamim making the biggest individual improvement.
Tanzid, who was Bangladesh’s top scorer in the T20 series with 165 runs at an average of 55 across three matches, climbed 20 places to reach a career-best 17th position with 636 rating points. This is currently the highest ranking for any Bangladeshi batter in T20 internationals.
No other Bangladeshi batter made progress in the T20 format. Due to poor performances in the recent series, Saif Hassan slipped nine spots to 29th, Tawhid Hridoy fell three places to 46th, Parvez Hossain Emon dropped four to 58th, and Zakir Ali went down two to 64th.
Among T20 bowlers, Sheikh Mehedi improved six positions to 18th and Tanzim Hasan Sakib moved up three spots to 34th. However, several bowlers lost ground. Mustafizur Rahman slipped one place to 12th but remains the highest-ranked Bangladeshi bowler. Rishad Hossain dropped two spots to 26th, Nasum Ahmed fell one to 30th, Taskin Ahmed dropped five to 40th, Shoriful Islam slipped five to 50th, and Hasan Mahmud fell seven to 76th.
In the ODI rankings, Tawhid Hridoy rose three spots to 32nd and Najmul Hossain Shanto improved one place to 41st. Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each slipped three positions, while Zakir Ali and Liton Das dropped one spot apiece. Among ODI bowlers, Miraz fell one place to 18th, Taskin dropped two to 42nd, and Mustafizur went down one to 61st, while Tanzim Sakib moved up one to 76th.
In the global standings, India’s Abhishek Sharma remains the top-ranked T20 batter, followed by Phil Salt and Tilak Varma. Varun Chakravarthy leads the T20 bowlers’ list ahead of Akeal Hosein and Rashid Khan. In ODIs, Rohit Sharma holds the top batting spot, with Ibrahim Zadran second and Daryl Mitchell climbing two places to third. Among bowlers, Rashid Khan remains No. 1, followed by Keshav Maharaj and Jofra Archer, who gained two places.
