Sunita Ahuja was spotted at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court on Wednesday with her son Yashvardhan Ahuja and their lawyer, drawing fresh attention to her relationship with actor Govinda, reports Hindustan Times.
Sunita and Govinda have been married for nearly four decades, but their relationship has faced renewed public scrutiny following her recent comments about their marriage and the actor’s personal life.
Sunita arrived at the court wearing a striped shirt and trousers, accompanied by Yashvardhan and their advocate.
She did not reveal why they had visited the court when approached by photographers.
Instead, she appeared to brush off the questions with a joke, telling the paparazzi, “Birthday manane aaye hai (I came to celebrate birthday)” before leaving in her car.
The visit immediately fuelled speculation about the couple’s marriage, particularly amid reports that Sunita had previously initiated divorce proceedings.
However, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha later said there was no reason for concern.
According to Sinha, Sunita had withdrawn the divorce petition she reportedly filed in December 2024.
“Sunita ji ne apna case wapas liya hai. Yeh toh khush hone ki baat hai (Sunita ji has withdrawn her case. This is actually a reason to be happy),” he said.
Sinha also addressed Sunita’s visibly serious demeanour at the court, saying that although she appeared angry, “everything is fine between the two of them now”.
The court appearance comes amid a series of public comments exchanged between Sunita and Govinda.
Sunita recently reacted to photographs and videos of Govinda with his rumoured companion Komal Rani Swarnkar.
She criticised the actor’s appearance with the woman and made remarks about his alleged relationship.
Govinda subsequently responded by asking Sunita to be careful about what she says publicly.
He also urged her to stop making statements that he claimed were intended to humiliate him.
Sunita has previously spoken openly about her marriage and made allegations concerning Govinda’s personal life, including claims of extramarital affairs.
The couple, however, have not publicly confirmed that they are separating.
Govinda and Sunita married in March 1987 and have two children, daughter Tina Ahuja and son Yashvardhan Ahuja.
Despite their recent public disagreements and renewed speculation about their marriage, Govinda’s manager has maintained that the couple are currently doing fine and that Sunita has withdrawn her divorce case.
