Bangladeshi film and television actor Somu Chowdhury sustained head injuries after two men allegedly attacked him with sticks during a dispute over waste disposal in Jashore on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 1:30pm in the Bejpara Naldanga area, outside the 60-year-old actor’s residence.
According to local sources, the disagreement began when Somu confronted employees of a motorcycle garage opposite his home over waste management and the cleanliness of the surrounding area.
The argument reportedly escalated, with two men identified as Jahangir, 36, and Hridoy, 32, allegedly hitting the actor on the head with sticks. The blows left him bleeding.
Somu’s family members subsequently took him to the emergency department of Jashore General Hospital, where he received medical treatment.
Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, confirmed that a case had been filed against the two individuals over the alleged assault.
Police are working to locate and arrest those accused in the incident, he said.
