Hollywood star Will Smith may be set to make his Indian cinema debut with Allu Arjun and Atlee’s upcoming sci-fi epic Raaka, reports NDTV.
According to a report by Mid-Day, Smith is reportedly in talks to join the highly anticipated project and may play the antagonist.
He is expected to shoot his portions at an overseas location, although his participation has not yet been officially confirmed.
A source quoted by the publication said Smith’s dates are currently being worked out and that the international shooting location will depend on his availability.
“Will Smith’s dates are being worked out. The overseas location will be locked depending on his availability. His costumes have been finalised and there is immense excitement in the crew for the next leg,” the source said.
There has also been speculation about Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in Raaka.
While earlier reports suggested that he would make a cameo, those claims were later dismissed.
However, Mid-Day has now reported that Shah Rukh is indeed part of the film and is expected to begin shooting his portions after September.
He is currently filming the final song for his upcoming film King.
According to the report, Shah Rukh may also join the international schedule of Raaka.
The makers unveiled Allu Arjun’s first look from Raaka in April, showing the actor in a striking and sinister avatar.
Sporting prosthetic make-up, kohl-lined eyes and a large claw emerging from his woollen outfit, the actor appeared almost unrecognisable.
The makers teased the character with the caption, “Prepare yourself for a vision beyond limits.”
Reports have also suggested that Allu Arjun could play four different characters in the film — a grandfather, a father and two sons. The story is also rumoured to involve parallel universes, although these details have not been officially confirmed.
Directed by Atlee, Raaka marks his first collaboration with Allu Arjun.
The sci-fi action drama also stars Deepika Padukone, Rashmika Mandanna, Janhvi Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in pivotal roles and is produced by Sun Pictures.
