State Minister for Shipping Razib Ahsan said the families of those killed in the passenger bus accident at Daulatdia ferry ghat in Goalanda, Rajbari, will receive Tk25,000 in compensation from the district administration. Those injured in the accident will be provided with Tk15,000 each.
He made these remarks while visiting the scene on Wednesday night.
Razib added, “We have been here from the beginning. The Prime Minister spoke with authorities here. It has been decided that we will hand over the bodies as soon as the relatives identify them. We are always with them.”
The bus plunged into the river at around 5:15pm on Wednesday while boarding a ferry. There were about 45 passengers on board the bus. Upon receiving the news, a diving team from the Fire Service launched a rescue operation, and efforts to rescue the missing passengers are currently ongoing.
