The results of the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will not be published on 20 July.
Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and also president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, confirmed this information to TIMES of Bangladesh on Saturday.
However, he added, “All work to prepare the SSC results will be completed between 26 and 27 July and handed over to the ministry. The ministry will then announce the results at a time convenient to them.”
He further said that once the results are prepared, the ministry may announce them on the same day if it wishes.
The ministry had given instructions to prepare the results before 20 July, he said adding that due to various complications, including issues related to the HSC examinations, this could not be done. “Work is still ongoing,” he added.
Meanwhile, a board official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the board had never officially announced 20 July as the date for publishing results.
“The education minister may have mentioned this date publicly in various discussions, which is why the matter is being talked about. But it was never part of the academic calendar or a pre‑set date by the board,” the official added.
Earlier, on 8 June, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the date at a press conference at the Secretariat, and said instructions had been given to the relevant authorities.
This year’s SSC and equivalent examinations began on 21 April 2026 and continued until 20 May.
More than 18.57 lakh candidates took part in the SSC examinations under nine general education boards, the Madrasa Education Board (Dakhil), and the Technical Education Board (SSC and Dakhil Vocational).
