An SSC candidate was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Gopalganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred in the Nishitola area of Muksudpur upazila along the Dhaka–Khulna highway.
The deceased was identified as Rafsan, 16, son of Md Zahidur Rahman of Muksudpur upazila sadar.
Police and family members said Rafsan had gone to Nishitola on a motorcycle in the afternoon for family purposes when his bike collided head-on with a goods-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took him first to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex, where he was given primary treatment.
As his condition deteriorated, he was being taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment when he died on the way.
Muksudpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abdullah Al Mamun said police are aware of the incident and further legal proceedings are underway.
