Actress Sreemoyee Chattoraj made it clear that jokes about her husband Kanchan Mullick’s personal life are not something she is willing to tolerate, even when they come in the spirit of fun.
The couple, who married in 2024, recently welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Krishvi. Their first child, a daughter, was born in November that year.
Kanchan and Sreemoyee are currently appearing together on Sony Aath’s non-fiction show Radhuni Na Kaduni, alongside Shyamoupti, Darshana, Rahul, RJ Sayan and Iman.
A promotional video for the show begins with Sayan jokingly telling Sourav to learn from Kanchan. Sreemoyee immediately interrupts and asks what he is trying to say. The exchange then turns into a light-hearted conversation about a colourful bird printed on Sreemoyee’s white outfit.
Sayan jokes about the “parrot” on her dress, prompting Sreemoyee to playfully warn him that he should not pay so much attention to it. Kanchan then joins the banter, joking that Sayan noticed the parrot but missed the tree.
The mood changes, however, when Sreemoyee addresses Sayan more seriously.
She warns him not to make personal attacks involving Kanchan’s wife and reminds him that they are friends.
“I want to tell you one more thing. I will not tolerate any kind of personal attack about Kanchan’s wife. And you are his friend. I am saying this very seriously. I am not joking around,” she says.
Her sudden change in tone leaves the others visibly quiet, bringing the playful exchange to an abrupt end.
Kanchan and Sreemoyee have previously faced repeated trolling over their age difference and the actor’s earlier marriages.
Sreemoyee has said in the past that she was uncomfortable when Kanchan’s industry friends joked about his multiple marriages in front of her.
The latest exchange, however, appears to have been part of the show’s playful banter, before Sreemoyee drew a clear line between humour and personal remarks.
