Bangladeshi film ‘Manusher Bagan’ won the Best Film award in the Social Feature Film category at the 15th Delhi International Film Festival in New Delhi, with actor Orchita Sporshia expressing excitement over the international recognition.
Directed by Nurul Alam Atique and produced by Impress Telefilm, the film received the honour during the festival’s closing ceremony held on May 19 at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
The award was accepted on behalf of the director and the film’s team by Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner to India Priti Rahman.
Reacting to the achievement, Sporshia said, “‘Manusher Bagan’ is not just a film, it is a story about our society, people and life. Receiving such recognition at an international film festival is a huge achievement for the entire team.”
She added, “As an artist, this recognition will inspire me to do even better work. I am grateful to director Nurul Alam Atique for giving us the opportunity to be part of such a beautiful project. I believe audiences will also find reflections of their own emotions and experiences in the film.”
The story of Manusher Bagan follows five interconnected narratives centred on people from different social and professional backgrounds. The film’s poster portrays the world as a vast garden symbolising dreams, struggles and the future of humanity.
Production on the film began in 2018. Although filming was completed earlier, the release was delayed for several reasons. The film received certification from the Film Certification Board in February this year.
According to the director, the film will soon be released in local cinemas as well as on OTT platform iScreen.
The cast includes Monoj Pramanik, Jyotika Jyoti, Swagata, Dipanwita Martin, Munira Mithu, Mahmud Alam and Prosun Azad.
