Nurul Alam Atique’s ‘Manusher Bagan’ has won the Best Film award at the 15th Delhi International Film Festival held in New Delhi, India, with the prize presented during the festival’s closing ceremony on May 19. The film is produced by Impress Telefilm.
According to information shared on the verified Facebook page of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, the award was received on behalf of the director and the entire team by Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Priti Rahman during the closing ceremony at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
In a press statement, Impress Telefilm producer Faridur Reza Sagar expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project for the international recognition.
Speaking to the media, director Nurul Alam Atique said he was pleased to receive the recognition in the category of Best Social Feature Film.
“This work was completed quite some time ago. Everyone involved in the film supported me tremendously, and I am grateful to them all. Audiences will soon be able to watch the film. We will feel successful if viewers connect with it,” he said.
The film’s poster offers a glimpse into its themes, portraying the world as a vast circular garden filled with people from different walks of life. Some are planting trees, some are painting, while others are digging into the earth or gazing at the sky.
According to the director, the story revolves around five narratives featuring people from different social and professional backgrounds who remain connected through an invisible bond.
Production on the film began in 2018. Although shooting was completed within a year, the project took additional time to finish for various reasons. The film eventually received its censor certification in February this year, becoming the first film to obtain certification from the Film Certification Board in 2026.
Atique also said the film will soon be released in local cinemas before arriving on the OTT platform iScreen.
The cast includes Monoj Pramanik, Jyotika Jyoti, Swagata, Dipanwita Martin, Orchita Sporshia, Munira Mithu, Mahmud Alam and Prosun Azad, among others.
The festival took place from May 4 to 8.
