Speaker leaves for Tanzania to attend IPU Conference

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has left Dhaka to attend 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Conference to be held in Arusha, Tanzania.

He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Tanzania at 2:30pm on Sunday.

Accompanying the speaker as part of the parliamentary delegation are Whip Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu; lawmaker Sarwar Jamal Nizam; lawmaker AE Sultan Mahmud Babu; lawmaker Md Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas; lawmaker SK Azizul Bari; lawmaker Humam Quader Chowdhury; lawmaker Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem; lawmaker Sunsila Jabrin Priyanka; and lawmaker Rokeya Begum.

The speaker will participate in various sessions of the IPU Conference scheduled to take place from 5 to 9 October in Tanzania.

Under the theme “Advancing good governance and empowering communities through inclusion, trust, and creating opportunities for all,” the governing council of IPU will elect a new IPU president on the final day of conference on 9 October.

Following the conclusion of the IPU Conference, the speaker is scheduled to return home on 11 October.
